( ABOUT SUDAH )

Sudah_on heritage, art, food and family
Soedah was born from Jessica Voorwinde’s personal search for her Moluccan roots. As the granddaughter of Johannes Patty and Maria Sipasulta, she discovered how little was actually known about their migration story — even within the family. Together with her friend and collaborator Judith Öfner, she decided it was time to record this history. The result is a loving project about family, heritage, and identity. About cooking as memory, silence as survival, and what gets lost when stories are left untold. Soedah is a book, a podcast, and a digital platform, — but above all an invitation to listen, to recognise, and to preserve what is precious. Soedah, a word that can mean something like “never mind” or “it’s all right as it is,” becomes a gentle counter-movement here: a plea not to ignore your origins, but to honour them — in scent, flavour, image, and memory.
